Satellite backhaul uses a satellite link to connect a mobile base station back to the operator's core network, instead of fibre or microwave. It lets operators place coverage in rural and remote locations where terrestrial backhaul is unavailable or uneconomic.
No. OrbIQ is a wholesale infrastructure partner only. It does not sell connectivity directly to consumers. The subscriber relationship, billing and brand remain entirely with the mobile operator, who keeps full control of the customer.
No. OrbIQ integrates with standard 3GPP mobile architecture, so subscribers connect through the operator's normal network on standard devices.
Towers require land, power, civil works and terrestrial backhaul, which makes low-density rural coverage hard to justify. Satellite coverage removes most of that fixed cost, so operators can serve sparse populations that towers cannot profitably reach.
